Coalition of Civics Against Xenophobia

The Coalition of Civics Against Xenophobia is planning a march against crime, poverty, and xenophobia. It is going to start at 9 am, Thursday 9th March 2017. They expect the protesters to assemble at Burgers Park on Lilian Ngoyi Street and the destination is the Union Buildings.

We are a coalition of communities representing South African-born and foreign-born residents. Like all communities, we are frustrated with the serious social problems we face such as crime, poverty, and unemployment, But xenophobia is not the answer to our problems; it is a symptom of these very problems.

We are planning our march to be the start of a campaign to organize our communities. We need to build a mass movement that can take up the issues of wages, service delivery, housing, support for small businesses, job creation, and against corruption and the exploitation of foreign works etc.

Such a movement can only be built on the unity of our communities.

March with us to Union Buildings
