November 1 election day declared public holiday in South Africa

President Cyril Ramaphosa has declared election day, Monday the 1st of November, a public holiday. This is in terms of Section 2A of the Public Holidays Act of 1994.

The date of the local government elections will be a public holiday throughout the country.
