Join Amaeshi Ikechi Quintet Live recording on June 9 at Sophiatown in Johannesburg.

Amaechi, Okwarachukwu Ikechi (popularly known as Amaeshi Ikechi) is a Nigerian bassist and composer.

According to musicinafrica.net Ikechi started learning to play bass at the age of 13, without formal training. He has worked with many accomplished musicians such as Malaika, the late Sibongile Khumalo, Zonke, Kunle Ayo, Olufemi Afrobeat Koya, Salim Washington, Lira, Simphiwe Dana, Zama Jobe, and many more. 

Featured in the Quintet are seasoned musicians and bandleaders whose crafts have left a mark on the ever-increasing landscape of South African Jazz. 

Ikechi describes the Live recording: “This concert will showcase the project titled IRETI, a story in music of Hope in the face of sudden disruption of life and work as we experienced during the lockdown and are now slowly overcoming.”
