Nigerian matriculant Anuoluwa Makinde is third out of all quintile 5 schools in South Africa

The Nigerian community lauds Anuoluwa of Milnerton High School from Western Cape, who bags the top 3 performing matric pupils for the matric class of 2019.

The greatest challenge that Anuoluwa faced at school was finding the balance between her academics and her netball. Developing good time management skills helped her cover new work, do revision and enjoy her netball without feeling too much pressure. Anuoluma’s favorite quotes are: ‘With men this is impossible, but with God, all things are possible’ (Matthew 19:26) and ‘I can do all things through Christ
who strengthens me’. (Philippian 4:13), Anuoluwa said.

She is extremely proud of having won a gold medal at the Cape Town High Schools’ Netball finals in Grade 10 as well as having maintained the number one position in her grade from Grade 8 to Grade 12.
Her advice to this year’s Grade 12s is this: ‘Work as if it all depends on you and pray as if it all depends on God.’ She feels that they should heed their parents’ advice, resist peer pressure and make sacrifices that will benefit their future.

Anuoluwa is excited to be studying Engineering Science this year as she can see the practical benefit her
studies can have for people.

Anuoluwa is also the first daughter of a world-renowned mathematician, Professor Oluwole Daniel Makinde of Stellenbosch University.
